BPH (Bachelor of Public Health )

A Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) is a four-year undergraduate degree affiliated to Pokhara University that provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote and protect the health of populations. The degree program typically includes coursework in public health foundations, epidemiology, biostatistics, health services administration, environmental health, and social and behavioral health. Students also have the opportunity to specialize in a particular area of public health, such as global health or health policy. In addition to coursework, BPH programs often include practical experiences such as internships or service learning projects, which allow students to apply what they have learned in real-world settings and gain hands-on experience in the field. Objectives of BPH

The main objective of Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) program for students are as folows:
• To provide student with theoretical, practical knowledge and understanding to work from community level to the central level care programs.
• To prepare for higher level of study in and outside the country.
• To prepare the graduates who can increase social awareness and perform various duties, depending on their specialty.
• To prepare the graduates who work for public to prevent them from serious diseases and risks, preventing them from recurring.
• To train and develop the skills through the community and field practices.

Scope & Career Prospects of BPH

Graduates with a Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) degree from Pokhara University have abundant career opportunities across governmental and nongovernmental sectors, encompassing both private and public domains. In Nepal’s underdeveloped landscape, particularly in rural areas, the demand for health professionals is significant. Diverse employment prospects a wait in hospitals, health research councils, health centers, organizations, and universities. Roles include medical sales representatives, health service managers, health promotion specialists, educators, community development workers, counselors, and social workers. Opportunities also exist within local government bodies, NGOs, and INGOs, contributing to public health initiatives. Specialized roles such as research coordinators, epidemiologists, nutritionists, infection control officers, and project managers are accessible. Further studies, domestically or internationally, can deepen expertise and broaden career horizons. Equipped with a BPH degree, graduates can meaningfully contribute to improving public health outcomes and addressing healthcare challenges both locally and globally.
